Art in the Park - Artist Application

The Medina County Art League (MCAL) presents its 37th Annual Art In The Park fine art show. The show is set in Medina’s charming Court House Square. Artists’ exhibits are arranged around the park’s gazebo, the central focus of the historic Public Square area.

ELIGIBILITY / JUDGING

A jury comprised of practicing artists, art teachers, and committee members will judge original artwork of professional quality in any medium for acceptance. No molds, kits or commercial products will be permitted. Accepted artists are expected to properly label all commercially produced reproductions. The jury requires that no more than 25% of an artist’s display include such reproductions. An on-site jury committee will tour the show to determine artists’ compliance with eligibility requirements. Those that do not comply will be asked to leave. ALL JURY DECISIONS ARE FINAL.

 

EXHIBIT SPACE / FEES

Approximately 130 artist exhibit spaces are available. Standard spaces are 10’w x10’d, allowing generous space between booths. A limited number of double spaces are available.

Single Space (10’w x10’d) - $140
Double Space (20’w x10’d) - $280

 

ARTIST RESPONSIBILITY

The artist is required to be on-site throughout the hours of the show. No dealers or agents are permitted. Artists are responsible for setting up their display with appropriate weather protection, keeping space free of clutter, and may not start tear down prior to 6 p.m. WE STRICTLY ENFORCE BOOTH TEAR DOWN! Sales tax is the artist’s responsibility. Current Medina County sales tax is 6.5%. Sales tax rates are available at www.taxes.ohio.gov, select Ohio taxes, Sales & Use, and then Tax Rates & Changes.

 

AWARDS / CASH PRIZES

A qualified judge will award a minimum of $2,500 in total cash prizes that day. Best of Show - $500; First Place - $350; Second Place - $250; Third Place - $100; and Honorable Mention - $50.

  • ADVERTISING. Provided by Medina County Art League and includes local and regional newspapers, magazine, television, radio, street signs, etc. The Gazette newspaper circulates a special tabloid showcasing artists by name, medium and location to more than 25,000 Medina County residents.

ART SCHOLARSHIP DONATIONS

You are invited to donate one item of your work to the MCAL Art Scholarship booth. If you wish to donate, please indicate so on the application below. All proceeds will be awarded to graduating Medina County high school seniors continuing their art education in college.

 

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Artists will need to submit 4 images - 1 of their booth and setup and 3 of their medium on 35mm slides or on a CD. The slides or CD need to be labeled with the artists' name, medium and dimension of work.

NO PRINTED PHOTOS WILL BE ACCEPTED

TWO SEPARATE CHECKS ARE REQUIRED

One check is for the entry fee and one is for postage and handling. Please make checks payable to Medina County Art League. The entry fee is $140 for a single (10’x10’) space and $280 for a double (20’x10’) space. The check for the exhibit space rental will be returned to those artists not accepted. The postage and handling fee of $5.00 is non-refundable.

Art In The Park (AIP) is NOT responsible for checks or money orders NOT received in the mail. It is the artists’ responsibility to verify that all materials have been received by AIP. Late applications will NOT be processed, and will be returned to the sender.
